It’s something I’ve heard my entire life. From teachers, colleagues, friends, and probably even people who have only just met me. Apparently, I sometimes give the impression that I’m always in a hurry.

Maybe that’s partly true.

I’ve always been someone who thinks quickly. Whenever I start something, I can already picture what the end result could look like. My mind naturally connects ideas, recognizes patterns, and looks ahead. While others are still wondering whether something is possible, I’m often already thinking about how we’re going to make it happen.

That has its advantages but it also comes with challenges.

When you can already visualize where something is headed, it’s only natural to want to move faster. You want progress. You want momentum. You want results. The problem is that the world doesn’t always move at the same pace as your thoughts. Processes take time. People need time. Organizations need time. No matter how clear the destination may seem, the journey still has to be made.

Over the years, I’ve learned that not everything needs to happen faster. Some things unfold exactly when they’re supposed to. Not because you force them, but because the right pieces come together at the right moment. That doesn’t mean I’ve stopped thinking ahead. It simply means I’ve learned when to accelerate and when to be patient.

Ironically, this quality has become one of my greatest strengths in my work.

I’m often hired for interim assignments, temporary projects, or periods when organizations need someone who can adapt quickly and get things moving. That fits me perfectly. I don’t usually need months of onboarding before I can add value. Give me a challenge, a goal, and some context, and I’m ready to get started.

That doesn’t mean I have all the answers from day one. Quite the opposite. But I trust my ability to learn quickly, connect the dots, and find solutions. Perhaps that’s one of the biggest reasons I love what I do. Every new assignment introduces new people, new systems, and new challenges. While some people find that intimidating, I find it energizing.

Because I regularly step into new environments, I’m constantly learning. I see how different organizations operate, which approaches are successful, and where opportunities are being missed. I take those lessons with me into every new assignment, making it easier to identify the core of a problem and take meaningful action quickly.

I’ve come to believe that many people hold themselves back simply because they spend too much time thinking.

Of course, preparation matters. No one wants someone who jumps into something without a plan. But there comes a point when thinking has to make room for doing. In my experience, that moment arrives much sooner than most people think.

I often see opportunities slip away because people are waiting for the perfect moment. They want one more analysis, one more meeting, or one final review to make sure everything is just right. Meanwhile, time keeps moving.

I’ve learned that you discover far more by taking action. Once you begin, you quickly learn what works and what doesn’t. You gain insights that you could never have found sitting behind a desk. And every mistake teaches you something valuable. In fact, I’ve grown far more from taking imperfect action than from endlessly second-guessing myself.

That also requires a healthy amount of self-confidence.

Whenever someone asks me if I can do something, my first instinct is usually, “Absolutely.”

Not because I believe I already know everything, but because I trust that I can learn whatever I need to learn. That mindset has taken me further than knowledge alone ever could.

Sometimes things don’t work out immediately. Sometimes I run into obstacles I didn’t anticipate. That’s part of the process. Even then, there’s always something to learn. I’ve never regretted trying something. I have regretted the opportunities I let pass because I thought I needed more certainty before taking the first step.

Perhaps that’s the foundation of how I approach both life and work.

I believe in thinking ahead, but I also believe in taking action. I believe that the fastest way to learn is by doing. And I believe that confidence often begins with something very simple: taking the first step.

So yes, I can be impatient.

But maybe it’s not because I’m in a hurry.

Maybe it’s because I often see what’s possible before others do. And once you see that potential, standing still can become the hardest part of the journey.

Fortunately, I’ve learned how to turn that trait into something productive, not only for myself, but especially for the organizations and entrepreneurs I work with. Because if there’s one thing that truly energizes me, it’s creating momentum, seizing opportunities, and delivering results.

Not tomorrow. Preferabel today.

Love Jennifer

“Take it easy”.
