Mother’s Day: A moment of gratitude for my son

Today is Mother’s Day. But this year, I don’t just feel like a mom – I feel incredibly grateful for the amazing son I have.

Mother’s Day is often a time to reflect on what it means to be a mother. To celebrate the love, energy, and care we pour into our children. But today, I also want to take a moment to honor something else: the love my son gives me.

It’s easy to think this day is all about what I do for him. But honestly? He’s given me far more than I ever expected. I learn from him every day – from his innocent questions, his honesty, and his way of seeing the world. He reminds me of what truly matters: joy, love, laughter, simplicity. Just one smile from him can completely lift my day.

He shows me that being a mother isn’t about being perfect. It’s about giving love, and creating a warm, safe space where we both get to grow. It’s not always easy – we have our moments – but the way we support each other, laugh together, and keep moving forward makes it all worth it.

So Mother’s Day isn’t just for me. It’s a celebration of him too. Of who he is, and how much he’s changed my life. We’re a team. And I am beyond proud of the person he is becoming. Every step he takes toward his dreams fills me with even more love. Not just for him, but for the way he helps me grow too. He teaches me patience, presence, and reminds me that love lives in the little things.

So today, I want to say thank you. For his love, his humor, his warmth, his strength – and everything he brings into my life.

This Mother’s Day, I’m not just celebrating my role as a mother – I’m celebrating the bond we share. We’ve been through a lot together, and that connection is the greatest gift I could ever receive.

Love,

Jennifer
