I did not grow up in an entrepreneurial family. My parents had steady jobs and worked for the same employer for many years. I, on the other hand, had a different job almost every year because I got bored quickly and was always looking for new challenges. The world as it is now would have suited me perfectly back when I was younger. It is not too late, of course, but you know what I mean. If I had been young in a time like this, where everything seems possible, I probably could have gone much further.
God has blessed me with talents in many different things. Looking back, entrepreneurship was already a part of me from a young age, but I didn’t realize it at the time. I also wasn’t guided in that direction. I don’t blame anyone for that, but it did mean that I lacked support.
Now I try to guide my son as much as possible in what he wants to do or what he is still discovering. He already knows he does not want to work in an office, and that is perfectly fine. I got your back. It is special to watch him explore what he enjoys and to support him in making his own choices.
Entrepreneurship means taking risks. It never goes perfectly right away, and it certainly does not happen without setbacks. I have had so many jobs that it is almost laughable. Through all those experiences I learned that when I enjoy something, I go for it, and I am not afraid. I do have to admit that this drive sometimes works against me, especially when I get carried away. Every entrepreneur goes through difficult times, and no one starts off making huge profits. It truly has to be in you. You have to dare to network, come up with new ideas, make mistakes and learn from them.
In the past I sometimes felt ashamed and sad that I liked so many things and ended up with a different employer each year. I felt insecure and unhappy. I thought maybe I wanted too much or that I wasn’t good enough. Now, in today’s world, I feel reborn. This is exactly the time I wished for back then. I don’t have to like just one thing. I enjoy multiple things, and I am going to earn money doing them. It really is possible to generate income from different activities, as long as you manage your energy and focus well.
These days I translate hard work into smart work. That is my motivation right now. Entrepreneurship is in me, and I am happy that I finally live in a time where it can truly flourish. It feels like everything is falling into place and I can invest my energy in what I really love, without limiting myself to a traditional job.
I have also learned that entrepreneurship is not only about profit and success. It is also about personal growth, creativity and the freedom to make your own choices. Every failure, every new challenge and every job I have had contributed to who I am today. It taught me that it is okay to have multiple interests, to experiment and to make mistakes.
Entrepreneurship is not always easy, but it is exactly what I need to grow, learn and be happy. And to be honest, it is simply a lot of fun to determine your own path, with all the challenges and opportunities that come with it. It gives a sense of fulfilment that no traditional job could ever give me.
And yes, sometimes you have to take risks to move forward. Nothing happens automatically, but it feels amazing to know that everything I do is based on my own choices. That feeling of freedom and the confidence in my own abilities is priceless, and that is why I decided to become an entrepreneur.
